Privacy Policy
Effective date: 8/31/2026 Last updated: 8/31/2026
Our commitment to privacy
Your privacy is important to us. This notice explains what information Seattle Digital Marketing, (“Seattle Digital Marketing,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We link to this notice from every page of our website.
Scope
This notice applies to information collected through seattledigitalmarketing.com, through email and phone contact with a Seattle Digital Marketing representative, and in the course of providing services to our clients.
Where we operate
Seattle Digital Marketing is a United States business. We offer and provide our services only to clients located in the United States, and our website is directed to a United States audience.
We do not offer goods or services to individuals in the European Union, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, and we do not intentionally monitor the behavior of individuals located there. Our website is hosted in the United States, and any information we collect is processed and stored in the United States. If you are located outside the United States and choose to contact us or use our website, you do so on your own initiative and you understand your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States.
The information we collect
Information you give us. When you contact us, request a proposal, or become a client, we collect the information you provide: your name, business name, email address, phone number, mailing address, billing information, and details about your project. Depending on the engagement, we may also collect credentials or account information for third-party services you ask us to work with, such as your hosting provider, domain registrar, advertising accounts, or content management system.
Information collected automatically. When you visit our website, we and our analytics and advertising partners automatically collect:
- IP address and approximate location derived from it
- Browser type, operating system, device type, and screen size
- Pages viewed, time on page, scroll depth, clicks, and referring URL
- Date and time of your visit
- Cookie identifiers and similar online identifiers
- Advertising click identifiers appended to URLs (for example,
gclid,fbclid,li_fat_id, and similar parameters)
Information from third parties. We may receive aggregated or hashed information from advertising and analytics platforms about how their users interacted with our ads, and business contact information from publicly available sources or referral partners.
Cookies, pixels, and tracking technologies
We use cookies, pixels, tags, software development kits, and similar technologies on our website. Most of these are deployed and managed through Google Tag Manager, a tag management tool that loads the technologies described below.
Analytics and behavior measurement
Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC). Measures site traffic, traffic sources, and how visitors move through our site. Google Analytics sets cookies containing a randomly generated identifier and receives information about your visit.
Microsoft Clarity (Microsoft Corporation). We use Microsoft Clarity to capture how visitors use and interact with our website through behavioral metrics, heatmaps, and session replay. Session replay creates a reconstruction of your visit — mouse movement, clicks, taps, scrolling, and page navigation — so we can see where visitors get confused or drop off. Clarity uses first- and third-party cookies (including the CLID and MUID cookies) and other tracking technologies to record this activity.
Clarity applies automatic masking to password and payment fields, and we have configured it to mask personal information entered into forms on our site. Session replay is not intended to capture the content you type. However, if you enter personal information into an unmasked field, it is possible that information could appear in a recording. Do not enter sensitive information into any field on our website that is not part of a form we have asked you to complete.
Microsoft processes Clarity data as described in the Microsoft Privacy Statement, and Microsoft may use it for its own purposes, including advertising.
Advertising and conversion measurement
We advertise our services online. The following technologies help us measure whether an ad led to a visit or an inquiry, and allow the platforms to show our ads to people who have visited our site (remarketing) or to people with similar characteristics:
Google Ads (Google LLC). Conversion tracking and remarketing tags that report when a visit or form submission followed a Google ad, and allow us to build remarketing audiences.
Meta Pixel (Meta Platforms, Inc.). Reports website actions such as page views and form submissions back to our Facebook and Instagram advertising accounts, and supports remarketing and audience building.
LinkedIn Insight Tag (LinkedIn Corporation, a Microsoft company). Reports conversions from LinkedIn ads and supports remarketing and audience building. The Insight Tag may also provide us with aggregated, de-identified reporting about the professional attributes of our site’s visitors.
OpenAI Ads Measurement Pixel (OpenAI, L.L.C. / OpenAI OpCo, LLC). Measures visits and conversions that originate from advertising in OpenAI products, including ChatGPT.
Important note about hashed contact information. Some of these advertising technologies support a feature commonly called “advanced matching” or “enhanced conversions.” Where enabled, information you enter into a form on our site — typically your email address or phone number — is converted into an irreversible hashed value in your browser and sent to the advertising platform along with the conversion event, so the platform can match the action to an ad. The platform receives the hashed value, not the plain-text information.
Cookies set by these advertising technologies are read by the platforms that set them. Their use of your information is governed by their own privacy policies:
- Google: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- Meta: https://www.facebook.com/privacy/policy
- LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/legal/privacy-policy
- Microsoft: https://privacy.microsoft.com/privacystatement
- OpenAI: https://openai.com/policies/privacy-policy
Strictly necessary technologies
Some cookies are required for the site to function — for example, to maintain security, balance traffic load, or remember your cookie preferences. These cannot be turned off through our site.
Your choices about tracking
You have several ways to limit the tracking described above:
Global Privacy Control. We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. If your browser or extension sends a GPC signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Browser controls. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies through their settings. Blocking cookies may cause parts of our site to work differently.
Platform-level opt-outs.
- Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
- Google ad settings: https://adssettings.google.com
- Meta ad preferences: https://www.facebook.com/adpreferences
- LinkedIn ad settings: https://www.linkedin.com/psettings/advertising
- Microsoft Clarity and Microsoft advertising opt-outs: https://account.microsoft.com/privacy/ad-settings
- Industry opt-out tools: https://optout.aboutads.info and https://optout.networkadvertising.org
Do Not Track. Browsers may send a “Do Not Track” signal. Because there is no common industry standard for interpreting it, our website does not respond to Do Not Track signals. We do respond to Global Privacy Control signals as described above.
The way we use information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, perform, and support the services you request
- Respond to inquiries, provide customer service and technical support, and communicate about projects
- Send invoices and process payments
- Send marketing emails and updates you have asked to receive, from which you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in each message
- Measure and improve our website, understand which content and pages are useful, and identify usability problems
- Measure the performance of our advertising and show our ads to people who may be interested in our services
- Protect against fraud, unauthorized access, and misuse of our website
- Comply with legal obligations, including tax and recordkeeping requirements
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information for money.
Some of the advertising technologies described above may constitute a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising under California law and similar laws in other states. You can opt out as described in “Your choices about tracking” and “Your privacy rights” below.
Beyond that, we share information only as follows:
Service providers. We use vendors to run our business — website hosting, email, customer relationship management, accounting, payment processing, and the analytics and advertising platforms described above. They receive only what they need to perform their function for us.
Advertising and analytics partners. Google, Meta, LinkedIn, Microsoft, and OpenAI receive website activity data as described in the tracking section.
Legal requirements. We may disclose information in response to a valid subpoena, court order, or other lawful request, or where we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, enforce our agreements, investigate fraud, or protect the safety of any person.
Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of all or part of our business, information we hold may be transferred as part of that transaction.
We do not share the personal information you provide to us with third parties for those third parties’ own independent marketing purposes.
How long we keep information
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes described in this notice, or as required by law.
- Website analytics and session replay data: retained according to each platform’s settings. Microsoft Clarity retains session data for approximately 30 days by default; Google Analytics retention is set in our account configuration.
- Inquiry and prospect information: 5 years from last contact.
- Client project records and communications: for the duration of the engagement and 10 years afterward.
- Billing and financial records: retained as required by applicable tax and accounting law, typically seven years.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information. We extend the following rights to all United States residents, regardless of state:
- Access. Request confirmation of whether we process your personal information and a copy of it.
- Correction. Ask us to correct inaccurate information.
- Deletion. Ask us to delete information we have collected about you.
- Opt out of targeted advertising. Ask us to stop sharing your information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- Non-discrimination. We will not deny service, charge a different price, or provide a lesser quality of service because you exercised a privacy right.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@seattledigitalmarketing.com with the subject line “Privacy Request.” We will take reasonable steps to verify your identity before acting on a request, which usually means confirming details we already hold about you. If you use an authorized agent, we may ask for proof of their authority.
We will respond within 45 days. If we need more time, we will tell you why and how much longer we need. If we deny your request, you may ask us to reconsider by replying to our response.
For California residents
The categories of personal information we have collected in the past 12 months are: identifiers (name, email, phone, IP address, cookie identifiers), commercial information (services purchased, billing records), internet or network activity (browsing and interaction data, including session replay), approximate geolocation derived from IP address, and professional or employment-related information (business name and role).
We disclose identifiers and internet activity information to the advertising and analytics partners named above for advertising and analytics purposes. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16 years of age.
For Washington residents
The Washington My Health My Data Act applies to “consumer health data.” We do not collect, use, share, or sell consumer health data, and we do not operate in a way that would infer health status from website activity. If this changes, we will publish a separate Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy as the Act requires.
Our commitment to data security
We maintain physical, electronic, and administrative safeguards designed to protect the information we collect, including access controls, encryption in transit, and limiting internal access to those who need it.
We retain billing records for the period required by applicable tax and accounting law.
No method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure. While we work to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children’s privacy
Our website and services are directed to businesses and business professionals, not to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16, and no part of our website is designed to attract anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at hello@seattledigitalmarketing.com and we will delete it.
Third-party websites
Our website may link to third-party websites. Those links are provided as a convenience. Seattle Digital Marketing has no control over these websites or their content and assumes no responsibility or liability for them. We do not endorse or make representations about these websites or any information, materials, or products found on them. If you visit a linked website, you do so at your own risk, and that website’s privacy policy — not ours — governs your visit.
Changes to this policy
We may update this notice as our practices, technologies, or legal obligations change. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes will be announced on our website. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
